HDTV

I knew it wouldn't be fun. I wasn't looking forward to it in the least; buying a new t.v.

Most of you know how I am with technology. I thought I'd explode when I discovered heated seats in my car AS WELL AS the remote start (Both occurred by accident I'm sorry to say. but my husband says the "WHOOOOOPIE !" I shouted was beautiful. Simply beautiful.) I was afraid of my IPod initially and my Blackberry. But I overcame them with lots of encouragement and help from my good friend "Manual".

Now my Honey's decided it's time to step into HDTV. We need a new one, a bigger one, a better one. Okay. Let's go. Not so fasssttt. I began to research and was so overwhelmed that I took a nap to relieve the headache(or was it an aneurysm?) caused by informational overload. The first draft of this blog consisted of nothing but the letter "h" as I snoozed away on the keyboard. Thank God for editing and delayed posting.

I began to read about the differences between 720i and 1080i and 720p. They look almost the same but are different. Some "refresh" on every line some every other. Refresh? lines? I don't want LINES I want pictures...silly me. Techno-idiot. I shook my head and heard the last few pebbles of sanity toddle out of my ear onto the floor.

Then we delved into the stations that broadcast in "i's" and "p's" (interlaced vs progressive) So ABC NBC and FOX seem to sit in one category and CBS and some of the cable networks sit in another. THEN you must consider the PREMIUM cable channels (cause you have regular, super and GRANDE cable)Of course you can't forget to consider LCD, plasma or rear projection microdisplays. I wasn't sure if I'd have to watch that last one in a mirror close up or what. But I kept reading.

Thrown in were some OTHER handy facts; like OTA and whether you should invest in HDMI which will integrate your surround sound system. I began to sweat and panic because the vision I have is thousands of wires (although I was reassured in the FAQ of the HDTV buying g-u-i-d-e that this has become MUCH simpler..LOL) and it ends up looking like "A Christmas Story" electrical outlet: "A quick whiff of ozone, a few sparks...."

The long short of it is that we are still researching. We have the field narrowed down and the size almost agreed upon. It seems that we will be getting something of an HDTV with 1080p LDC....

You know what??? THIS IS WHY I PREFER TO R-E-A-D!!!!!!!
