I wanted to truly thank everyone who helped make this weekend a success and a surprise. It was a monstrous task: to throw two surprise parties in one day but I did it and not without your help. My husband's 40th and my son's 9th; big day, high hopes all accomplished in the grandest of styles. Or dare I say....FONSAY?
It's amazing to me how you came, rolled up your sleeves without hesitation or thought. You offered to take my burdens, cook, clean all with smiles and generosity. We laughed and carried on, didn't we? You made it easy. I couldn't begin to ask for better friends. I wouldn't know how.
And for those who couldn't join us? You called, you offered sympathy when it was hard (or didn't go QUITE according to plan) showing me the lighter side, helping me see the reality of the situation. Reassurance is a gentle giant.
It makes me happy when we're together and there is that satisfied, comfortable sigh. We have perfected the get-together. It's family; strong, relaxed, loving and endless. As our friendships grow, I only become more appreciative of all you give to me and all we are. There is laughter in the most simple things: a broken jello boobie on a homemade bikini girl cake, a dysfunctional water slide or a handsome little boy so jacked up on sugar he can no longer blink or stop making tight fists while his head twitches slightly yet uncontrollably and he utters "EEEEEEeeeeee" through clenched teeth. I love sitting by the fire in the bistro busting each other for "checking on the kids" and sneaking to bed, telling stories where the facts no longer matter or getting lost in the silence and strength of all the years and experiences we share.
Happiness. It's easily found with you...
Now get out of my house. I want to take a nap.
